Description :

The MPU9250 is a 9-axis MotionTracking device developed by InvenSense, which is now part of TDK. It combines a 3-axis accelerometer, a 3-axis gyroscope, and a 3-axis magnetometer into a single package, providing comprehensive motion sensing capabilities. The MPU9250 is commonly used in applications such as robotics, drones, virtual reality, and other projects where accurate motion tracking is essential.

Axes of Measurement :

  • Accelerometer: Measures linear acceleration along the X, Y, and Z axes.
  • Gyroscope: Measures rotational motion along the X, Y, and Z axes.
  • Magnetometer: Measures magnetic field strength along the X, Y, and Z axes.

Communication Interface : The MPU9250 typically communicates with external devices, such as microcontrollers, using the I2C (Inter-Integrated Circuit) or SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) communication protocols.

Gyroscope Specifications :

  • Sensitivity: The gyroscope has selectable sensitivity ranges, typically ±250, ±500, ±1000, or ±2000 degrees per second (dps).
  • Resolution: The resolution is typically 16-bits for the gyroscope.

Accelerometer Specifications :

Data Fusion : The MPU9250 includes a Digital Motion Processor (DMP) that can perform sensor fusion to combine accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer data for accurate motion tracking.

Power Consumption :

The MPU9250 is designed for low power consumption, making it suitable for battery-operated devices.

Pin Configuration :

  • VDD: Power supply voltage (typical range is 2.4V to 3.6V).
  • GND: Ground.
  • SDA/SDI/SDIO: I2C or SPI data input.
  • SCL/SPC: I2C or SPI clock input.
  • AD0/ADDR: Address select input (used for I2C communication to set the device address).
  • INT: Interrupt output.
