GP2Y0A21YK0F Compatible IR Distance Sensor 10–80 cm with Cable

This analog infrared distance sensor is compatible with the Sharp GP2Y0A21YK0F. It measures distances from 10 to 80 cm and outputs a voltage that changes with distance, so you can read it with any microcontroller's analog input. A 3-wire cable is included.

Practical notes

The output is not linear with distance, so use a lookup table or a curve fit in your code. Below 10 cm the readings become ambiguous, so mount the sensor at least 10 cm back from the closest object you need to measure. Add a 10 µF capacitor between VCC and GND near the sensor to smooth current spikes that can make readings noisy. For longer distances, see the 20–150 cm model.

Does it work with ESP32 (3.3 V)?

Power the sensor from 5 V. Before connecting the output to a 3.3 V board, check its maximum output against your ADC input limit; a simple resistor divider keeps it within range.
